From the very first batch department received 3 ranks under Mysore University and continued under VTU during, 2005 with 10th rank, 2007 with 8th rank, 2012 with 5th rank and during 2013 with 9th rank.

The department is very keen in organizing co-curricular activities which motivates the students. The department has a student clubs; the club is active throughout the year by organizing Technical Talks, Industrial Visits, Workshops, Guest lecturer series, certification courses and many other curriculum and extra-curriculum competitions. Since 2010 department is organizing every even semester a state level project competition ‘AvEEEshkar’ which gives practical exposure to the students.

The department library is equipped with more than 850 books, Magazines, student project reports & Seminar reports for quick reference for both students and staff.

The Project, Research & Development lab provides all the facilities to students to conduct experiments, design prototype models which enhance their practical knowledge, skills and thereby leading to new Innovations.
